Bogotá, Colombia · Design · 2021
The Cultural House is envisioned as a gathering place for memory, cultural strengthening, and reparation, rooted in the reinterpretation of FARIAN principles and community ownership. It also brings together key elements identified through social mapping and women’s care-based community processes, aiming to serve as a cultural center for the village, the corregimiento, and the region.
The intervention responds to geography, the urban entrance, the existing context, and the site’s role as a cultural center and refuge. From this, the Cultural House is proposed as a landmark and mediator that shapes the town’s entrance and connects the educational facilities through flexibility and multipurpose use.
The project is guided by two core ideas: flexibility and the center, making access and connection from every direction essential. The door becomes the key architectural element, dissolving fixed limits and extending the house into the town and the town into the house.
The project builds from the existing social, cultural, and economic conditions, preserving the past as the basis for its architectural operations.
